This book analyzes autonomous Catalonia political experience in the long period of the nationalist government. From a research performed for a doctoral thesis, it raises a historical methodological approach, from the conviction that it can contribute to integrate a perhaps too fragmentary and at the same time stereotyped view of the stage often called «pujolism». So, the book tries to give answers to some core questions about how Catalan institutions have been defined, consolidated, acted and interacted after francoism: who made their recovery possible, the debates that went with their definition, their characteristics and, over all, why and how this so important for the country consolidation and institutional and political development stage has been carried out with the uninterrupted leadership of an only political force: the coalition —and later federation— Convergència i Unió. These are some of the questions answered by this book, knowing beforehand that the answers will be partial, complex and subjected to objections but bearer of some more suggestive and ambitious questions.
