1999, Prologue by Ramon Lapiedra, 2a ed., 126 pp.

In January 2000 Pere Mayor was elected president of Bloc Nacionalista Valencià (BNV). He had been before the general secretary of Unitat del Poble Valencià (UPV), one of the parties from which the new BNV was born. Since its foundation in 1984 UPV represented the values of the nationalist left and although it reached some representation in several Municipality Councils it never obtained any seat at the Valencian Parliament. This party never surpassed the electoral barrier of 5%, which is considered by many as acting against the plurality of the Valencian Country. Only for the period 1987-1991 and coalised with Esquerra Unida UPV entered the Valencian Courts. One of its two deputies was Pere Mayor, who after this experience became the mayor of Ontinyent (1991-95). Thus, the long and difficult march of UPV -now BNV- is closely linked with the life trajectory of Pere Mayor, a graduate in history who from the very beginning thought that the needed freedom for the Valencian Country only could be attained by political means. Un país amb futur revises through an interview this political and life path, without ignoring any of the key moments of the party (the agreement with EU, with Convergència, the relationship with PSPV-PSOE, etc.). Besides, the book is rather entertaining and reveals unpublished anecdotes and other events. For all this Un pais amb futur has caused great interest and already two editions.
